Springfield Spartans U11 Team Extends Generosity to CUYS

Springfield FC’s U11 Spartans players and families graciously donated over 1,000 healthy snacks and provided a financial donation to Chester Upland Youth Soccer, helping to ensure access to soccer for hundreds of children in the program’s after-school offering.

“We can’t wait to meet your players and continue to grow in our partnership,” remarked Kellie Rutledge, whose family coordinated and presented the donations on behalf of the team.

Located in Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Springfield FC governs the boys and girls travel soccer program. Springfield FC works with the Springfield Athletic Association to provide the best possible soccer experience for the boys and girls of the Springfield community.

Under SFC Director Harry Horozoglou, Springfield teams strive to work together on and off the field. This year the Springfield Spartans U11 team also volunteered to pack 14,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger in Broomall. Kids Against Hunger is a non-profit humanitarian organization with a mission to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children and families around the world...and around the corner. The organization's goal is for the meals to provide a stable nutritional base from which recipient families can move their families from starvation or food insecurity to self-sufficiency.

“The generosity of spirit shown by the Springfield Spartans should be a model for every team that recognizes it can help achieve equity in opportunity. CUYS is very grateful to have connected with the Spartans,” said CUYS Exeuctive Director Jeannine Anckaitis.
